‘Arc of Justice’ Author Back to Speak

Posted to on Thursday, October 13, 2011

The Detroit race riots happened 44 years ago… in July of 1967. Suburban Detroiter and Ohio State University history professor Kevin Boyle wrote about what had fueled the riots 40 years before that.

Boyle’s book ‘Arc of Justice’ won the 2004 National Book Award.  This month he’s returning to Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Spring Lake, Alpena and Marquette to talk about the book and race relations in his home state.

This year, the Michigan Humanities Council has named ‘Arc of Justice’ the Great Michigan Read.  See details at this link:

In June of 2007, the annual conference on Mackinac Island included a session on race relations. Boyle addressed the audience.
